The best way to start any episode is surely "And Teryl Rothery as Dr. Janet Fraiser".  So far, so good.

Unfortunately, we're well into the episode before she finally appears (not that I personally wasn't kept occupied for a while with the fishing invite! *g*).

Watching Sam watch Janet perform a post-mortem on the goa'uld symbiote, it's clear Sam really shouldn't be present for the same on a human specimen!

But hey, thought for the day - Janet is probably the only person on Earth qualified to perform an autopsy on a goa'uld.  Yay!

And then she gets to report back as a double act with Sam!  I've always loved this scene.  They take over from each other so naturally, obviously knowing when to let the other speak.  Very nicely done.

Janet also picks up a role she's had several times before - providing just the right dose of sedative!

Then we move on to the little outing to the Egyptian desert.  Since my music video, for me these scenes will always play to the line "Now we're coming out of the kitchen," from "Sisters Are Doin' It For Themselves" - the USAF ladies are out after their Goa'uld *g*.  Though for some reason, Daniel has the tranquiliser gun.  Hmmmm...

Putting my medical hat on for a moment - that was one hell of a quick diagnosis!  Internal bleeding, without any proper examination or even history of what happened.  Okay, moving on...  Janet puts her stethoscope aside (after eventually getting it out!) only to be thrown across the room!  Poor woman... bet she regrets leaving the safety of her infirmary!

Side comment: Does Osiris leave the coat somewhere?  By the year 2010, it seems to be in Sam's possession... lol!  (Okay, it's not identical, but considering how close the episodes aired there's one hell of a likeness!)

That's pretty much it for Janet, in fact, except for the little concluding scene.  I tend to remember Janet being in this episode more than she actually is, which I choose to see as a positive thing.  She obviously made an impact, and hey, she gets out of the white coat and out of the SGC!

But then, maybe there's only room for one white coat in Egypt. *g*

Oh crap.  A funeral.  Stop thinking depressing thoughts, Vicki.  {Pauses to sob bitterly.}

Hey – “Teryl Rothery as Doctor Janet Fraiser.”  {Brightens up considerably.}

Hmm…  Do Janet and Osiris stand close together in any scenes?  Cuz, y’know, Anna-Louise Plowman is rather tall, and Teryl Rothery… well, isn’t!

{looks at watch}  Oh come on, where’s Janet already?

Hehe.  The curator woman has the same problem Janet probably has!! I wonder if Daniel has to help her too?

{looks up at page}  Wow, I’ve written a lot in a Janet review considering she’s not even in the episode yet!  Bwahaha!!

Yay!  Janet!  Finally.  She’s looking rather grossed out by the Goa’uld extraction and cutting (although the look on her face is nowhere near as good as Sam’s – hee!)

Whee!  Janet’s leading the briefing, and she knows exactly what she’s talking about (which is something you’d hope considering!).  She also looks really worried (and rightly so!) with the news of a Goa’uld potentially being on the loose.

Hehe, Janet’s been busy!  How long would it take to synthesise a drug?  Actually, I suppose once the basic elements have been found out (NMR, Mass spec etc) it wouldn’t be too long, so never mind!!

She looks surprised when Hammond informs Sam and Daniel that she’ll be accompanying them!  Can just imagine the quick trip home to grab some clothes and tell Cassie that she’s off to Egypt!  Hee!  She’s being let out of the mountain!  I guess all that jabbing with needles finally paid off!  {grin}

Welcome to the (ever-shrinking!) sand dunes of Vancouver, and the first appearance of “Turtle!”

Hang on – I think I’ve got a top similar to the one that Janet’s wearing (and the one Teryl Rothery admired at the photo sessions at Gatecon!).

Daniel refers to her as a friend.  While that’s nice, wouldn’t it have been more reassuring to tell Steven that she’s a doctor?

Meep!  Janet’s been thrown across the room by the hand device! Dudes - not cool!  But she did get her gun out much quicker than Daniel did, even if she didn’t get to fire it.  (Has she ever actually fired a gun in the series?  We’ve seen her with one enough!)

Aww poor Janet’s a bit unstable, but she still asks Daniel if he’s okay.  Bless her.
